PBS – Performance Based Standards
PBS are vehicle performance and handling standards set by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator. Vehicles that meet these standards are permitted to operate at higher weights and/or on roads that are restricted to normal load limits. PBS combinations can include unique designs, road trains and B-Doubles, trucks and trailers. TEAM has staff approved as PBS Certifiers.
Vehicle Standards Bulletin 6 – VSB6
Provides for modification approval of vehicles with GVM or GTM greater than 4,500 kg. Modification approvals and GVM/GCM/GTM re-ratings are undertaken for Road trains and B-Doubles, Prime Movers, rigid trucks, trailers, motorhomes, Light Trucks and vans (GVM greater than 4500 kg), etc. TEAM has staff who are Approved Vehicle Engineers (AVEs). Modifications include engines, transmissions, axles and suspensions, Chassis alterations, additional axles, body installations, etc.
Access Management and Permits
TEAM staff liaise with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, State and Local Government to assist with obtaining approval for PBS, over-mass and over-dimension combinations to operate on sections of the road network.
Rover application for new and imported on-road vehicles
Australian Design Rule (ADR) approvals are required for registration of on-road vehicles in Australia. TEAM has staff authorised to submit applications for ADR approval to the Australian Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the ARTs using the Department’s Rover system.
Vin Submissions
TEAM have staff who are recognised as an authorised VIN submitter by Austroads, we produce VINs and submit them to NEVDIS for a variety of clients. We are listed online by Austroads as an authorised submitter.
General Engineering Assessments
TEAM staff assess customer frames, tools, or designs that need to be certified with a Safe Working Load, or to be assessed against a particular standard. In these instances, we produce a test regime that aligns with the intended use, or the requirements of the standard
Defect reports and repair mechanisms (Rust cracking dimensions)
TEAM AVEs/RES report on vehicle repairs and condition to assist operators pass Government vehicle inspections. Common reporting is undertaken on chassis distortion, cracking and rust.
Finite Element Analysis – FEA
TEAM Has staff competent in the use of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for the assessment of structural strength (FEA is a software based mathematical modelling process) of tow bars, drawbars, trailer frames, and other structures.
Load Restraint
Assessment to determine compliance with the National Load Restraint Guide for truck and trailer load restraint systems.
